Setting The Focus
Aug 29th, 2008 by Kiwi Champ
If we are just getting started with this online business, the first big question is usually: Well where exactly DO I start? OK, I need to learn a lot, but what do I study first?
This is where we CAN get confused. As I mentioned in a previous post, there is a wealth of information available but if we try to learn all at once, reading every email and website that comes our way, we certainly CAN end up with our minds running in all directions. How come?
Well one day we read that some say: “The best way to start is with Affiliate Marketing”, and so our minds rush off to brainstorm that idea.
Then the next day you read that others say: “No, you need to Create Your Own Product “ (and off goes your brain in another direction), then we read about “Mini Sites” or“Squeeze Pages” and on it goes.
In actual fact all of these writers may be right, at least it’s right for them. So many do have a very successful online business. Each of them work with their own main focus which is bringing them their success and so this is what they teach.
But by now your brain may be swimming with ideas, but probably they are all unrelated (at the moment). I am sure you can see how it is easy to end up confused and now you REALLY don’t know where to start.
So lets try and eliminate the confusion and get you started with CONFIDENCE and FOCUS.
BEFORE you start (or continue) reading any more Ebooks, emails or courses, watching videos or listening to Audio files lets do some sifting.
So clear your desk and find a blank piece of paper and a pen or pencil.
WRITE DOWN:
- What will be the PURPOSE of your business? (Goals).
- What will be the FOCUS of your business? (Pets, Family, Gardening, Health etc) (Refer to post “Excellent Reading To Get Started” for something that will help you with this)
- What sort of METHOD appeals to you (to start testing with). This will be a method you feel comfortable with.
For example: Blogging, Mini Sites, Article Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Pay Per Click (Adwords), Adsense. - What STRATEGY will you use. (Plan of Action).
- What capital do you have available to INVEST in your business?
(It IS possible to start with very little capital, but some things like Pay Per Click would require some initial investment to get started. Other methods such as Article Marketing can be done with little or no capital, just some hard work).
If some of these terms are “foreign” to you, don’t worry – look out for future posts where we will briefly look at each method so you can decide where you want to FOCUS on first, and then you can start creating your plan for success.
Remember:
- A house is built one brick at a time.
- A mountain is climbed one step at a time
- A business is built one step at a time.
Lets Meet At The TOP.
