The Purpose of Our Business
Aug 28th, 2008 by Kiwi Champ
Before we can really decide on the purpose of our business, we need to take some moments to reflect on the purpose of our life
We cannot compartmentalize our lives so that each segment is totally separate from the other. We are just not made that way. Every part of our life and being is in some way intertwined with the others.
We may try and deceive ourselves into thinking we can focus on just business goals (for example) and make that “our life”, but that won’t work. In fact this would end up destroying everything and everyone else around us (and there are plenty of testimonies on this planet to verify that statement).
So — how are we to succeed in life, in business, online – or anywhere else for that matter?
First we need to settle: What is the purpose of my life. Some of you have a “head start” on this project. You know where you are going, and are simply looking for a way to get there.
Great, you are ready for the next post
(See Below).
But for those of you who don’t really know where you are going in life and are trying to just focus on short term goals without thinking about how they are going to link up to bring you to a main long term goal, then you have a good chance of ending up going around in circles. Some circles may take years to complete, but nevertheless they will be circles.
Lets consider some thought provoking questions:
After I leave this planet, in what way would this world be a better place because I was once here?
If I was to face my last few minutes on this earth right now, what would be my greatest regret? (What have I not done, that I know deep down I should have done, or be doing?)
If I was to be given 6 weeks to live, what changes would I make right away?
In other words, we were all born with a destiny or purpose to fulfill.
We all have:
- The ability to influence. – What kind of influence do you want to be to the world around you? The world at large?
- The ability to create. - What kind of life do you want to create for yourself and those around you? Your life affects others, no getting away from that.
(How do we “create” our lives? – Remember the topics on Succeed in Your Mind? Our thoughts cause our actions. So our thoughts and our actions create our lives AND our destiny). - The ability to be unique. – No one else can copy you. You are special, you have something to contribute to the world around you that noone else can. What unique qualities do you notice in yourself? Are you sharing these with those around you?
- The ability to succeed, to live in abundance.- The only thing that can change that is YOU. Are thoughts helping or hindering this purpose?
- The ability to live in health. (Yes we ourselves have a huge influence on our bodies simply by the many choices we make as we journey through life).
“Men are born to succeed, not to fail.” – Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) US naturalist & writer, powerful social critic of urban, industrial trend.

Time For Action:
Ok — so find a place alone for at least 30 minutes, take a piece of paper and write down your answers to the questions (in italics above). Be honest with yourself.
Now write down all the things you think you would like to do while on this planet. Everything that comes to mind should be noted down until you find yourself jotting down something with tears welling up in your eyes. NOW you have found your true main purpose in life (your passion).
Now it will be easy to find the purpose of our business. Our business will be designed to help us reach our life’s goals and it will be guided by our life’s purpose and principles for living. Now we are ready to go to the next step
Lets Meet At The Top.
